We have all had that moment in Borderlands 3 when you finally get the weapon you have been grinding for, only to realise the Anointment is completely useless for your build. Hours of farming, and it feels like a letdown. Now, there is talk that Borderlands 4 might change this entirely. The rumour mill says the devs are working on a new system that could give players way more control over their gear.

If what people are saying is true, this could be the end of the pure slot-machine feel and the start of something way more rewarding. For anyone who loves tinkering with loadouts, this is huge. And honestly, if you are already thinking ahead, checking out Borderlands 4 Cash might just get you hyped for what is coming.

The main shift seems to be towards farming with purpose. Instead of just grinding the same boss for a random drop, you would be hunting specific materials. Maybe you take down Maliwan squads to get their high-tech components, or clear out a COV camp for those chunky magazine parts. Each area could have its own reason to farm, and that makes the whole map feel more alive. You are not just chasing luck—you are building towards something you actually want. It is a different mindset, and it could make the grind feel less like a chore.

Then there is the part that is getting everyone excited—the idea of fully modular weapon crafting. You would not just find guns; you would make them. Collect a Jakobs rifle frame, slap on a Hyperion barrel for tight accuracy, maybe throw in a Maliwan elemental core for some crazy status effects. Or go wild with a Tediore SMG body and mix in dual-element chaos. The possibilities could be endless, and the best part is that every weapon could feel like yours. No more settling for “good enough”—you could build something that fits your playstyle perfectly.

On top of crafting, the whispers say there will be a proper enhancement system. Forget rerolling perks with Eridium over and over. Instead, you could use new resources to directly boost a weapon’s stats—damage, reload speed, elemental chance, you name it. That means if you find a gun that feels great, you can invest in it and keep it relevant, rather than tossing it when a slightly stronger version drops.

If this extends to Class Mods and Artifacts, builds could get way more diverse, and players could stick with gear they genuinely love. It is the kind of change that could make endgame feel fresh for a long time, and if you are already picturing your dream setup, grabbing some Borderlands 4 Items buy might be the first step towards making it happen.
