| Hi all. Slightly different question than the usual one here. We consolidated two acquisitions last year and ended up sitting on a /22 that nobody has announced since 2021. It is clean, it is ours, and it is doing absolutely nothing except showing up in an audit spreadsheet once a year. Leadership wants to know if there is money in it. I would rather not sell if we might need the space later. What are the options for putting idle space to work without giving it up permanently? The block has clean WHOIS as far as I can tell, and we have no immediate plans that would need it back.

| Leasing it out is exactly the answer for your situation, since you keep the block and can pull it back when the term ends. A /22 will find takers, that size is in demand. Two things to sort out before you list: decide who handles abuse complaints during the lease, because your name stays on the registry object, and check the reputation history of the range so you are not surprised by an old blocklist entry. We listed idle space through an IP Broker , which saved me from vetting counterparties myself. Honest caveat: money is steady but not life changing at that size, so set expectations with leadership early. Tip: agree in writing on how quickly the lessee has to act on complaints, because your registry contact is the one getting the mail.
