So you’re stuck mid-upgrade and it’s all because you can’t get enough Steel Springs. Happens to loads of players, and it’s one of those annoying bottlenecks that slows you right down. Truth is, once you know where to focus, they’re not that hard to come by. It’s less about hoping for a lucky drop and more about putting your time into the right spots. For me, the most reliable way has always started with hunting ARC bots – and if you’re into ARC Raiders Items, you’ll probably be doing that anyway.

When it comes to bots, you don’t need to waste your ammo on the big tank-like ones unless you’re already taking them down for other loot. The smaller Grunt-class and those quick little Drones are where it’s at. They’re easier to deal with, usually found in small patrols, and you can clear them fast without chewing through your supplies. Sure, the springs don’t drop every single time – RNG is still part of the game – but the sheer number of these bots means more chances overall. Find yourself a loop with a few reliable patrols, run it, and you’ll notice your stash building up before long.

If shooting isn’t your style, scavenging works too. Think about where springs would logically turn up in the world – anywhere mechanical work used to happen. Old workshops, dusty garages, abandoned factories. Those places are gold for parts. Keep an eye out for red toolboxes, big metal crates, and the shelving units tucked away in maintenance buildings. The trick is not to rush through. Pop open every box you see because one overlooked crate can be the difference between scraping by and having enough to craft what you need. I’ve had runs where a single garage gave me more springs than an hour of bot hunting.

There’s also dismantling, which a lot of players forget. Break down certain bits of junk or mechanical gear in your inventory and sometimes you’ll pull a Steel Spring or two from it. You can’t bank on it, but it’s a nice little bonus when you’re already clearing out stuff you don’t need. Always check what scrapping gives you before tossing anything – you might be binning the exact part you’re short on. Between smart scavenging, targeted bot hunting, and scrapping, you’ll get yourself a steady supply without grinding your sanity away. And once you’ve got enough springs, you can start looking at gearing up with cheap Raiders weapons to make the next grind even smoother.
