What tournaments to choose for sport betting?

[johnnyy]

I noticed a few sports betting tournaments recently and got curious about how people choose between them. A friend joined one based on the prize pool, but later realized the scoring rules didn't really suit him. For someone who's just starting out, what should you look at before joining a tournament?
