| Over the last two weeks, our main canopy fan has started vibrating heavily whenever we turn it up to full speed. It's making a horrible low-pitched humming noise that our customers can hear in the dining area. Do I need to buy an expensive replacement motor, or could it just be a balancing issue?

| Don't buy a new fan just yet. Heavy vibration usually happens when the actual blades get coated in uneven layers of thick, hardened grease, which throws the whole rotor out of balance.

| Before you spend thousands on a brand new extraction unit, it is definitely worth booking a comprehensive tr19 cleaning service to thoroughly scrape down the internal canopy housing and the fan blades themselves. Clearing out all that compacted oil and grime often balances the system right back out, quietens the noise instantly, and extends the lifespan of your equipment. Plus, it keeps your kitchen running safely within legal health guidelines without disrupting your service.
